CS Exeter - Life on the Beach
Exeter 1100th Diocese Celebrations - Life on the Beach
There are two opportunities to get involved with CS in the Exeter area over the weekend of 26th and 27th June.
On the Friday 26th in the afternoon and evening Christian Surfers and Creationfest will be building a mobile skatepark outside of the Cathedral, and holding a skate and music evening. Be great to see some of you there to assist with the CS Stall, or running the skate competition.
LIFE ON THE BEACH
Saturday sees a celebration at the Cathedral as they celebrate the 1100th anniversary of the diocese. Numerous organisations will be displaying outside the cathedral, and CS have been invited. We are looking at a team of between 4 and 6 to look after the gazebo, and to chat with the public.
More info on it
This is a joint venture between Exeter Cathedral and members of Churches Together in Central Exeter. There are three guiding principles behind Life on the Beach, which aims to share and explore the love of God creatively through:
• Imaginative presentation
• Sensitive conversation
• Generous hospitality
Life on the Beach was the vision of Canon Mark Rylands, Diocesan Missioner, and Dimitri Tsouris, Orthodox icon-writer, who saw the Cathedral Green being used very much like a beach.
They planned to find fresh ways of bringing the Gospel to this natural performance area. On set Saturdays throughout the year, a local church takes ownership of the day and lays on a variety of different entertainment such as choirs, bands and comedy acts from a main stage plus a lot of activities people can get involved with.
Christian concerns like Devon Green Action, TraidCraft, Christian Surfers and Christian Aid also come along and provide information and engage with the people mingling on the Green. There are also teams on hand to give out free refreshments and Fair Trade Products.
If you can assist at all at any of these events, or want more information then please contact Phil on 07774 138143, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
