GREAT END TO THE YEAR FOR CSUK AND LOOKING FORWARD TO CHRISTMAS
11th December 2013
With Christmas just around the corner, why not take a look at the CSUK shop for some great ideas for presents? We have just got in the CSI Prayer Calendar, which are £8 plus £2 postage. We also have the 'Who Do You Surf For?' clothing range and the Groundswell books.Final day for posting is the 18 December.SURF REPORT - CSI FUNDRAISERWhen Phil suggested that Wales should host the Surf Report fundraiser I have to admit I did my best to find somebody else to do it. But as ever Phil had a plan and I have to confess that Iím rather glad he did. Not only was it a greatpleasure to host such an amazing bunch ofpeople from around the UK, it also gave the Welsh crew an opportunity to show off our beautiful country and give people the experience of Cardiff on a rugby international day. Held in a converted church, which is now an arts centre called The Gate, the event drew people from as far away as Scotland and Cornwall andeverywhere in between. After a frantic time in preparation, the evening kicked off with some sweet tunes from Jake and Knoxy before we sat down for a three-course dinner. Over dessert and coffee we heard from Christian Surfers International director Brett Davis who spoke about the work of Christian Surfers around the world and where he sees the movement heading. We were also honoured to host members of the Welsh Surf Federation and the Welsh Coast Surf Club. Renowned surf author Tom Anderson (Grey Skies, Green Waves) blessed us with an impromptu speech about how the work ofChristian Surfers is impacting our surfcommunities through unconditional service. The aim of the evening was to raise funds for the CS International office with 10% of the proceeds going to the Philippines typhoon relief via Tear Fund. Through generous donations from major surf brands such as NinePlus, Elusive, Tiki and many more, as well as generous individuals, we were able to auction nearly 30 lots. Apart from the comedy auctioneer who didnít seem to know what was going on (it was me and I canít count!) some of the highlights of the auction were handcrafted Alaias from Brett and hand planes from Jaci in Scotland. The sell-out event raised £2000 and we are very grateful for everyoneís generous hearts. That money represents the fantastic investment in the work of Christian Surfers and will bear much fruit. Thanks to all involved.
