Christian Surfers International – Fund raiser evening (November 16th 2013)

7th November 2013

The ‘Gate’ Art Centre, Keppoch St, Cardiff (Nov 16th) in Cardiff is the chosen venue for a rare fund raiser evening for the work of Christian Surfers International. The extreme sports missions’ organisation, is active in over 30 countries, and has been at work in the UK, through its affiliation to the charity, Christian Surfers UK for over 20 years.

The organisation works alongside serving numerous National surfing bodies, in order to help develop and support the sport of surfing, as well as running their own extensive programs, including high profile surf contests, surf camps and regional gatherings. Their aim is quite simple, and that is to be “A Christian presence and witness in the entire surfing community around the World”

The fundraiser comes on the back of a very busy schedule of autumn events including the Jesus surf classic in its 20th year, and the Jesus longboard classic, as well as supporting numerous surf competitions from far afield as Thurso to Newquay. None of this would be possible without a fantastic team of volunteers.

The exciting evening will consist of a rare opportunity to hear from the current director, and founder of Christian Surfers International, Brett Davis talking about the work, and exciting plans for the future, including the world tour Chaplaincy project. Brett currently lives near Sydney (Australia) and is only in the UK for a few days. The work of the ministry is very far reaching, and the funds raised during the evening will assist in particular projects to further develop the work in mainland Europe as well as the UK.As well as hearing from Brett, with some amazing examples of God working in the lives of surfers around the globe, and other key Surf Industry personnel, guests will also be settling down to a lovely three course meal, laid on by the team at the art centre.

One of the other highlights of the evening will be the charity auction, which includes some great prizes to bid for, including a couple of hand crafted and painted Alaia surfboards, brought from Australia, as well as lots of other great items. If you have any items that can generously be donated to the evening, please contact Johnny Hillman below, and donators will be given coverage in the auction brochure, as well as later press releases, and listed on the web site.

Dress code is smart, and tickets are strictly limited and priced at only £20, which includes a three course meal, live music, and entry to the auction. For more information on this evening, or to order tickets directly go to the Christian Surfers UK website (www.christiansurfers.co.uk) or e-mail Johnny Hillman johnnytallblokeh@yahoo.co.uk or to order tickets online go to www.christiansurfers.co.uk/surfreport

This promises to be a fantastic evening, and all money raised will go to the work of the organisation both in the UK and throughout Europe. If you surf or you just have a passion to see sportspeople reached for Christ, then this is a great evening for you. Tickets are strictly limited so ensure you get involved as soon as possible.
