Busy Summer of Events Continues
19th August 2013
After a fantastic 10 days at Creationfest, at the Royal Cornwall Showground and the Boardmasters, at Fistral Beach, Newquay, the busy summer of events for Christian Surfers continues. After the initial downpour on the first Monday morning at the Boardmasters we had a near perfect week, as the sun was out and the waves got better everyday. The surfing started off slowly as the conditions waves were small and weak, but as the waves picked up we saw some amazing surfing from the likes of Ben Skinner, Alan Stokes, Jobe Harris (who made it to the open semis and won the pro junior) and travelling surfer and over all winner Billy Stairmand.Despite their being no main sponsor the Boardmasters was just as big as previous years and it was great to see so many people on the beach and at the waters edge watching the surfing. However the surfers did lose out a bit on their surfing area - not being provided with any refreshments! This was a great opportunity for CS though. So as well as providing cooked breakfast and refreshments for the site staff and judges as planned, we stepped in to provide water, snacks, fruit and even made fresh soup each day for the surfers. This meant that as well as spending time with the site staff who we have gotten to know over the years, we were able to spend a lot of time with the surfers and their families.A huge thank you to all the CS crew who worked so hard at the Boardmasters and Creationfest and made it a great time. Our attention now turns to the World Bellyboard Champs at Chapel Porth on 8 September, followed by the Jesus Surf Classic on 14 - 15 September.
