BLESSED DAY FOR THE CS CORNWALL GATHERING
31st May 2012
It has been a very exciting start to the year for Christian Surfers in Cornwall with a real sense of momentum, God being at work, uniting and strengthening the work of Christina Surfers. We have made our leadership meetings more regular and this has served to encourage us and helped us share ideas and support each other better. It was great to welcome Nathan Thomas on to the team as we launched the group in St Ives in May. It has been an area that has been on our the heart of Christian Surfers for some years, with many prayers being said for the town and it's surfers. Even though the group is in it's infancy, there is good support from the local church and Christians who surf in the town. I have been to meet the local pastor of the Fore St Methodist church, who is very keen to partner with CS and I will be connecting with more churches in the area over the next few months. Nathan is a real character and comes from a proper St Ives family. God is using him in a great way to bring people together and be a light for Jesus in St Ives.We have recently had a CS Cornwall gathering at the Tubestation in Polzeath which was a really encouraging and blessed day. Despite not having any waves on the day the weather was so sunny and warm it made hanging out at the Tubestation feel like a holiday! We spent the afternoon on the beach and chatting on the deck, and some of us played in the ankle high waves. In the evening we ate together, a big thanks to the crew at the Tube for putting that on, and then had a time of music, sharing and praying for each other. We had crews from St Ives, Porthtowan, Newquay, Polzeath as well as others parts of Cornwall. One of the highlights of the day was connecting with a crew from St Austell, who rocked up later in the day. We'll hopefully be connecting with them more and they have already started planning trips over to Newquay to meet with the crew there. The whole day was so blessed and it felt so encouraging to be together, meet new people and pray over each other and for the surfers in our local surf communities. It was good also to welcome Johnny Hillman, who came down to connect with the Cornwall groups and shared about his role in Christian Surfers.
