Marathon English Channel surfboard Paddle - YES WE MADE IT
27th July 2011
Thanks so much for your support. After 5hrs and 21mins, the team finally completed this marathon challenge in aid of Surf Relief UK (www.surfrelief.co.uk)
Finally paddled onto the French beach, and how amazing it felt. The team of 4 (Dave Manley, Toby Lowe and Nick Thorn) paddled two paddle boards across from Dover, leaving at around 8.41am and arriving around 2.20pm (UK Time)
Just enough time for a very quick drink then paddled back to the support boat, before being whisked back to Dover.
No near escapes with very big boats, but with choppy conditions, and well over 20 miles to paddle, it was always going to be a big challenge (Esp as I just reached the ripe old age of 50.
It was great to commit the trip to prayer before the crossing, and the support crew were fantastic. THANKS TO ALL INVOLVED.
Full set of gallery pictures to follow, although camera appeared to be playing up a bit.
Thanks so much for all your support, pretty tired and aching today, but stoked. You can still sponsor us if you want via the attached link, where we are trying to raise funds for Surf Relief UK - Thanks https://www.charitiestrust.org/members_data/event/channelpaddle2011/index.html
