Christian Surfers Mobile Skatepark gets its first 'secret' trial set up
2nd November 2007
Following the incredibly generous gift through the partnership from 'Life in Abundance' in Shoeburyness the Christian Surfers Mobile skatepark was set up for the first time on 1st November.
A crew of around 8 volunteers, set the park up in a secret location, skated on it, and packed it away again all the space of 4 hours.
The aim was to learn from the process in order to assist when we first take the park out to 'Outreach' events.
To cut along story short the gift of the park was as a result of a number of discussions between 'Christian Surfers UK' and the charity 'Life in Abundance'.
Phil Williams stated ''We are grateful to God for his provision of a portable skate park and skate equipment that has kindly been donated to us by Life in Abundance (LIA), a charity based in Shoeburyness, Essex. They had previously used the park as a response to a need in their community but have now decided to move onto other areas of youth work with the young people in their area.
A spokesperson for LIA said 'we are delighted to be able to support another Christian charity who had the vision for this new work of outreach whilst we had the means at our disposal to help address that need'.
Christian Surfers are very excited about this amazing new resource which will be used alongside CS Surf events during 2008, as well as in stand alone skate/music events.
The next challenge is now to raise £4,000 to purchase a trailer for the mobile park. If you are interested in supporting this initiative or want more details e-mail me on philchristiansurfers.co.uk or ring 07774 138143
A huge thanks to God for his provision.
