Chris Scott - A loss of a great great friend
19th June 2007
Chris (Christine) Scott - 1956 - 2007
It is with great sadness that we must announce that Christine (Chris) Scott, passed away on the morning of Thursday 14th June 2007.
She was one of the most significant people within Christian Surfers UK, as she was part of the original leadership team, and was treasurer for around 17 YEARS.
Everyone in the family of Christian Surfers and indeed her local community are devastated by the news, as she meant so much to us all. To Annie and I she was a very dear friend, who right from the first day, made us feel so welcome.
Chris had been suffering quietly from lupas for over 15 years, and towards the end of her life this became very unstable, and finally coupled together with other health complications this took her life.
Chris leaves behind a very close-knit family of Mike a founder member of CS and Trustee (Her husband for over 30 years) Kerry and Tim. In addition she had an amazing extended family.
Chris was a very kind generous person, who was supported so much by her family, she worked tirelessly for Christian Surfers as well as St Georges, and would always make the family meal 'stretch' if a visitor popped in. When I think back to her life I remember laughing un-controllable with Mike and her on numerous occasions as we reviewed events that had just occurred. I believe Chris has left Christian Surfers an amazing legacy, and I know God would have been so pleased with her passion, actions and support of some many 'Outreach' opportunities.
The funeral will be held in her own Church of Croyde Baptist Church at 1.30pm on Friday 22nd June. If you are planning to be there, please get there early as parking will be at a premium, and it is likely there will be an overflow from the church.
Chris was a tremendous person that did what she promised, and made sure her actions followed up her words. A very special lady who meant so much to us - For that Chris we say a huge thank you
As I was thinking of Chris and having a tearful moment at Church on Sunday, I believe God gave me this passage - Philippians 1 v3-6
"3I thank my God every time I remember you (Chris). 4In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day (Of Christian Surfers UK) until now, 6being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
Please continue to pray and support the family at this time
